About

Star of Bethlehem Lodge A.F. & A.M., is located at 370 Salem Street in Wakefield, Massachusetts.

Our Lodge is one of eight Lodges within the 13th Masonic District of The Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

The Grand Lodge of Massachusetts is the oldest in the western hemisphere dating back to 1733 and the third oldest following the Grand Lodges of England and Ireland.

In 1843, the founders of Star of Bethlehem Lodge were the first to petition for a charter following the anti-Masonic period beginning in 1826 (when Masonry had gone underground due to events causing adverse publicity for Freemasonry) and marks the beginning of the renewed growth of the Fraternity in Massachusetts.

Our Lodge’s name, “Star of Bethlehem” was chosen as it symbolizes the Fraternity coming out of the darkness and into the light.  The lodge was originally established in Chelsea, MA; however, relocated to Wakefield, MA in September of 1978.

We are an active, dynamic, and diverse lodge with a rich local history. The lodge currently serves more than 140 members and perpetuates an exciting spirit of ongoing personal development, growth achievement and community service.

Our membership spans across a diverse mixture of age, culture, orientation, profession, and Masonic tenure. We afford a warm, friendly and inviting experience for our members, friends and family, and the greater Wakefield Community.

We enjoy actively participating in events of other lodges both within and external to the 13th district.

Even though our lodge meets in Wakefield, MA, we draw members from several communities on the north shore of Massachusetts, throughout to Jurisdiction, and the United States.

We welcome the opportunity to help you learn more about Freemasonry and to help you find a local lodge that suits you.

For more information, please feel free to contact our Lodge Secretary or the Presiding Master.
